The Manitoba Agri-Health Research Network (MAHRN) originated from an identified need to develop and promote a Manitoba functional food network. The original business plan developed in 2006 led to the establishment of MAHRN in 2007 with the network comprised of the following three members:
Manitoba – Food Development Centre (FDC);
Canadian – Centre for Agri‐Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM);
and – the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals (RCFFN).
MAHRN’s vision was to promote and support the development of a strong agricultural, food and health products research community and industry in Manitoba. It accomplished this successfully by facilitating and building collaboration among the three organizations, CCARM, RCFFN and FDC, as well as to actively promote them. With this achieved, it was decided to wind-up MAHRN’s operations on March, 2018.
